This print, again etched directly on the plate in Robert Finger's workshop, is the materialization of an original idea.
Sheets 1 to 150, out of the pond, give the perspective from the depth of a well into sunlight. By a 180-degree
rotation the viewer of the variant, sheets 151 to 200, into the pond, looks down the well's shaft into the darkness
of the blue window. This, shifted out of focus, generates strong tension, a magical magnetism, which soon leads all the
windows...to circle and to hover in the glare created by the warmest of all colors. Precisely this floating feeling is
the highly disquieting factor produced by a reversal of spatial effect -- warm colors thronging toward the viewer, cold
ones into the distance -- and associated here with the incidence of light. An enthralling sheet that brings the viewer
all the excitement of an enigma, and all the fascination of spatial thrill.
